Teaching: Slow for newbie, faster for exerienced

Having trouble with a handling move/sequence? Slow down! A great study should that beginner golfers did better when they took their time. I have my beginners do things at a walk. It gives them time to see and process everything. With my green dogs I do big sections of courses at a walk when I am teaching them responses to handling. The same study though showed that experienced golfers did better when they were rushed - and didn't think about it! Their moves had become automatic. Once you reach a certain point of training, it is better not to think about what you are doing, but "just do it". However, while gaining that competence, Try slowing down!

One of my coach's favorite sayings is "with understanding comes speed" and it certainly applies in this case.
